Andrew Field b. 1979
Andrew Field (born 1979, Solihull) is a Contemporary British landscape painter whose
work is a direct and visceral response to the natural world. Having spent eleven years
living and working in the United Arab Emirates, he returned to England and is now
based in Stratford-upon-Avon — a landscape steeped in literary and artistic heritage
that continues to shape his practice.
His paintings are emotive, gestural responses to the experience of being immersed in
the landscape — to its atmosphere, colour, light, and weather. Rivers hold a particular
significance, rooted in a lifelong love of fishing and the meditative quality of moving
water. Working with oils and watercolours, Andrew seeks balance, energy, and
dynamism in each composition, aiming to inspire the viewer and reconnect them with
the beauty and power of the natural environment.
Committed to sustainable practice, Andrew works with eco-friendly, plant-based
diluents and mediums — an extension of his deep respect for the landscapes he paints.
He holds a BA, MA, and PGCE, and has exhibited widely including at Mall Galleries,
London. He was named Cotswold Artist of the Year 2025 and teaches workshops
across the UK, including at Cornwall School of Art, Truro.
